HONEYMOONS 2023: DESTINATIONS AND IDEAS FOR A ROMANTIC TRIP

28th January 2023

After the Covid-19 pandemic put a damper on the entire world economy including that of tourism, people are finally returning to travel. It has been three years marked by a virus that caused every country to close its borders and thousands of couples to postpone their wedding along with their honeymoon but today it all seems to be just a bad memory.

Thus, future newlyweds who want a destination wedding or an unforgettable honeymoon abroad are dreaming again. Let's find out how to get ready to travel again and what will be the must-see honeymoons destinations for 2023!

HOW TO TRAVEL AGAIN

While on the one hand the Covid-19 has marked our habits also for travel, on the other hand almost all countries have been able to gradually ease the restrictive measures now that the spread of the virus seems to be under control. This is how we are starting to experience a reality similar to the pre-pandemic and traveling is becoming possible again but under what conditions?

In order to incentivize bookings, there is more flexibility from the entire tourism industry regarding cancellation or terms and conditions about date change. The future newlyweds can start planning their honeymoons for 2023 and it is possible to opt for travel insurance that will guarantee you coverage of extra expenses in case of ill and an extra period of stay in the country of destination.

Some virus containment measures remain in the most frequented public places including airports, hotels or b&bs, tourist attractions and restaurants: masks and disinfectants are integrated with plexiglass dividers and constant sanitization. At the same time there are several countries which, despite having reopened their borders, allow entry only to those who present a complete vaccination certificate against Covid-19 or an antigenic or molecular swab (RT-PCR) with a negative result carried out on the day before departure.

In the current phase in which some restrictions are still in place, before choosing your destination, take a look at current regulations relating to Covid-19 even if relying on travel agents seems to have returned the best solution to receive guarantees and assistance in the shortest time without risking losing the long-dreamed vacation. Let's now take a look at the most wanted destinations to return to travel in 2023, where to experience an exciting destination wedding or a romantic honeymoon!

EUROPE

Among the favorite destinations we have southern and south-eastern Europe characterized by landscapes with wide hills, golden beaches and a Mediterranean climate, mostly mild, throughout the year. Although the sun-kissed European countries were among the first ones most affected by the pandemic, the desire to explore these destinations has certainly not gone away:

  • Italy: the Bel Paese, famous for its artistic and cultural heritage, records millions of tourists each year attracted by history, symbolic monuments and precious artworks preserved in museums. Even the scenic beauties enchant, surrounded by nature: from Lake Como passing through Liguria, Tuscany, the Amalfi coast up to the warm Sicily and Sardinia islands, they are among the favorite destinations for foreigners who choose Italy also for their destination weddings or honeymoons;

  • Spain: extended for most of the Iberian peninsula, this land boasts architectural works and natural scenarios to visit at least once in a lifetime. Andalusia is the most typical region and recommended for those who want to touch the ancient Spanish traditions with the local culinary delicacies. The climate is particularly mild during the year along the southern coasts, in the Balearic islands, wet from the Mediterranean sea and in the Canary islands, surrounded by the Atlantic ocean;

  • Greece: among the sunniest European destinations, the homeland of philosophy in the Balkan peninsula cannot be missing. We could define this country as the perfect destination for those who dream of a warm holiday between April and October, during which to combine culture, fun and relaxation. In addition to the ancient acropolis of the capital Athens, we find more than 200 inhabited and visitable islands but the most touristic ones that hold the record of visitors are undoubtedly Santorini, Corfu and Mykonos together with the famous Zakynthos.

AMERICA

America is among the most wanted destinations although in several states the Covid-19 vaccination certificate (at least two doses) or a negative swab is still required. Those who visit the new continent for the first time are not satisfied with visiting a single country and among the itineraries chosen to fully live an unforgettable experience, there are some that are asked especially for honeymooners 2023:

  • USA and Aruba: it is a feasible itinerary all year round but the best temperature is from April to October. The first stop is New York, therefore we proceed towards the Niagara Falls and Washington D.C. then fly to Los Angeles and reach the striking scenery of the Grand Canyon and Monument Valley. The tour ends with extravagant Las Vegas and chaotic San Francisco; for the most adventurous who want to visit the United States while driving, the coast to coast option by camper is undoubtedly interesting. After this hectic tour, let's fly to the Caribbean islands for a bit of relaxation: Aruba is one of the most loved for its splendor, its places of interest and the presence of functional services. On the white shores bathed by the ocean, you can relax and devote yourself to water activities such as snorkeling or windsurfing without forgetting the off-road excursions in the island and the nightlife of Palm Beach and Eagle Beach;

  • Peru and Mexico: if you want a honeymoon in Peru or Mexico, you can find the right compromise by visiting them together with a single itinerary! These are two tourist locations both explorable from May to September as they share a mostly tropical climate but little rainfall at this time of year. The holiday in Peru starts from the capital Lima, where modern architecture blends with the ancient one. You then continue towards the sacred valley of the Incas until you reach the famous ruins of Machu Picchu, a symbol of Peru and then continue south to reach the desert of Nazca. Time to leave for Mexico, the ideal destination to spend a holiday that offers more than sea and sun: history and archaeological sites, such as Chichen Itza, dedicated to the Mayan civilization, enchant as much as the beaches of Cancun or Acapulco together with the historic center of Mexico City;

  • Argentina e Brazil: South America offers multiple scenarios and those who visit these two countries discover a fascinating territory full of contrasts and with an optimal temperate climate to be visited from October to March. Buenos Aires is the first stop not to be missed: a dynamic metropolis that seems to recall Europe. Continue along the lush and boundless pampas to get to the cold Patagonia where you can admire the gigantic Perito Moreno glacier and conclude in the far south, in the archipelago of Tierra del Fuego. The journey can then continue to Brazil to be conquered by the main destinations such as the lively Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. Porto de Galinhas beach together with Copacabana beach, as well as the main tourist and landscape attractions count millions of visitors every year.

ASIA

Although the pandemic started right from the Asian continent, there are Eastern and Middle Eastern destinations that will remain a must even for 2023. Even for some countries on this continent, the Covid-19 vaccination certificate or the negative result of the swab before boarding are still required. Whether you are planning a honeymoon or simply a leisure holiday, here are which destinations will envelop you in a magical atmosphere that you will keep in your most beautiful memories:

  • Maldives: the Maldives archipelago, located in South Asia, is made up of more than a thousand islands grouped into 26 atolls and can be visited in the dry season from December to April. The very populous capital Malé is the archipelago's political and economic center as it is well connected to most of the atolls such as North Malé, South Malé and Ari. Not surprisingly, they register the largest number of tourists who can experience the customs of the local population. Less visited are the northern atolls further away from the capital, such as Noonu, but preferred by those who want intimacy in luxury resorts for a perfect trip with their own half. The islands of the Maldives have in common the paradisiacal beaches and the pristine waters in which to dive to discover the coral reef or excursions to the different islands accessible by boat;

  • Bali: the Indonesian island is the destination chosen by those who want a travel experience in contact with nature and their own spirituality. Among the green forests and rice fields of the area, there are waterfalls and sacred Hindu temples such as the suggestive Pura Ulun Danu Bratan and Pura Penataran Agung Lempuyang. Particularly appreciated is the village of Ubud where art and culture merge with wellness centers where it is also possible to practice yoga: a stop not to be missed to recharge your body and mind! Bali also boasts several beaches bathed by waves particularly appreciated by surfers: Kuta Beach and Seminyak Beach are undoubtedly the most tourist and party-goers of the island. The best time to visit Bali is from June to September when, despite the tropical climate, the rains are scarce;

  • United Arab Emirateswet by the Persian Gulf, the United Arab Emirates are the pearl of the Arabian Peninsula, perfect to visit from November to April. Every year Dubai is the main stop for millions of tourists fascinated by the luxury and versatility of this modern metropolis. Burj Khalifa and Burj Al Arab are the most famous attractions, followed by the largest shopping center in the world, the Dubai Mall. Don't miss Aquaventure and Dolphin Bay for a tender close encounter with dolphins or the most beautiful beaches of JBR, Umm Suqeim Beach and Jumeirah Beach Park. Finally, it is worth living the reckless experience of crossing the desert dunes aboard a 4x4 to enjoy a magical sunset safari. More than a hundred km away from Dubai, there is the capital Abu Dhabi, where we find the wonderful Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque together with other places of interest including the Louvre museum in Abu Dhabi, the Emirates Palace in front of the Etihad Towers and the Yas Marina circuit.
