WEDDING IN THE MOUNTAINS: GETTING MARRIED IN NATURE AT THE GRAN SASSO

11st October 2020

Getting married in nature is undoubtedly one of the trends of the moment for an unconventional wedding.
Recently born in USA, it is already making fall in love many couples from all over the world that want to live an unforgettable experience with their loved ones and on their wedding day. This trend gave life to my latest inspiration wedding in Abruzzo: a photo shoot to immortalize the love of a beautiful couple and to inspire those who never imagined a wedding in the mountains, surrounded by natural beauty, in a breathtaking setting.

I am going to tell you more about the inspiration wedding realized at the Gran Sasso d'Italia on August.

Abruzzo is my native land and is characterized by its different natural landscapes: from beaches to mountains, crossing green hills, there is only the embarrassment of choice to get married in nature. As for a real wedding, we had to select the most suitable place that could host our inspiration wedding but me and the entire team of vendors, headed by Angelo Mereu photographer, had no doubts: Campo Imperatore would have been the perfect place! An extensive plateau in the Gran Sasso National Park, easily accessible at just under two thousand meters above sea level and reminiscent of Patagonia.

The idea was to create a photo shoot that, while showing the scenic beauty of a wild place, was able to put in the foreground the purity of the spouses' feelings and what the essential is: simple and fundamental elements to crown the love of any couple leaving aside tradition and formalities.

The palette of nuances to be used was inspired by the warm colors of the plateau in August: shades of pink with burgundy, orange and dove gray would integrate with the landscape lighted up by the sunset. The bohemian style was proposed by me to frame this kind of wedding: wild but in some ways chic thanks to a careful selection of natural elements and vintage details for the wedding stationery and the setting-up.

The creation of the wedding stationery was entrusted to Di Punto in Bianco graphic designer. Starting from the style and palette of the inspiration wedding, we confronted each other to make a delicate floral graphic with soft watercolor colors combined with a romantic calligraphic font. Everything has been reproduced on each graphic element and printed on the precious Amalfi paper. Particular details was inserted such as the participation wrapped in a jute twine, the bronze sealing wax bearing the initials of the spouses, the placeholder tags perforated and woven with an original natural frayed ribbon in dove gray color.

At the same time, the concept for the floral arrangement was born La Primula floral designer.

The selection of flowers has included roses and dahlias in the warm colors of orange, powder pink and burgundy matched with the blue of the eryngium and the yellow of the craspedia. The pampas as well as the green foliage of beargrass and ivy could not miss to give a touch of lightness.

Floral elements combined together gave life to original arrangements that personalized each phase of this wedding in the mountains in perfect bohemian style: from the ceremony to the reception till to end with a romantic cut of the cake made by Val Dolce pastry shop.

I put special attention also in the choice of furnitures provided by Umami banqueting: for those who choose to get married in nature, it is preferable to opt for wooden elements such as the triangular structure of the symbolic rite or the bare imperial table and bistro chairs. The mise en place evoked a natural-chic style through rustic elements combined with refined vintage details: dove-colored napkins between rattan mats and white ceramic plates with romantic embossed decorations, silver cutlery, Baroque-style crystal glasses, candlesticks in iron intertwined with jute strings...

Corazzini atelier took care of the groom look by providing an elegant blue half tight while the bride's look was curated by Emé atelier: the Eleonora dress in crochet lace, enhanced the décolleté with a sweetheart neckline and defined the figure with the tight bodice together with the flounced skirt. A wedding dress with simple lines that perfectly matched the bohemian style chosen for our inspiration wedding.

The beauty of our bride was also enhanced by Marilisa Di Sabatino make-up artist together with Gidigi Hairdressers: refined but decisive make-up to highlight the eyes and half up hairstyle with soft waves to be ready for a wedding in nature.

An inspiration wedding that we will remember for the natural and wildlife beauties that kept us company during the shots taken in less than two hours due to the unstable weather conditions of the plateau but completed thanks to the collaboration of the entire team of vendors who took part!
